Welcome to 2021 and our 63rd year in business in Vancouver. The past 12 months have been a rollercoaster for all of you and we at Rolfe Benson are no different. We have had a busy fall and what is shaping up to be a busy winter and spring. In January, we added 9 new or returning staff members including Chris Wang as an import from Alberta and Haley Kemmer also an import from Alberta. Both of these people join us as managers in our Assurance/Accounting and Tax Departments respectively. In addition, returning to us after sometime away for studies, are Samuel Routledge, Nicholas Pearce and Trang-Nha Huynh. We have also added to our student group, Diane Chung, Karina Nikiforov, Chaz Olsen and Spencer Roberts. We hope you have an opportunity to interact with these people.
We are very pleased to announce our newest partner, Grace Madrazo, as of 1 January 2021. Grace joined us in 2009 and has helped our firm grow since that time. Grace is unusual in that she was born and raised in Vancouver, attending Little Flower Academy followed by UBC Sauder School of Business. Grace had worked for two other CPA firms prior to joining us more than 10 years ago and when not attending to client affairs or managing various aspects of the practice, she enjoys playing the piano and cycling. Once COVID allows the country to open up, Grace will be able to travel which is one of her other hobbies. We congratulate and welcome Grace to the partnership and look forward to many enjoyable years working with her as she helps guide the firm into a 3rd generation.
At the time of writing, it looks like 2021 will not have the same income tax extensions as were allowed in 2020. Therefore with 30 April fast approaching, please start to gather your documents. As many of you are aware, our office is still closed but we are able to receive mail and courier packages. If you would like to drop off information, please call our reception when you arrive outside the building and they will come down to the main doors to greet you and collect your documents.
