As we look forward to the upcoming holidays with family and friends, we also reflect on how fortunate many of us are in this part of the world. At Rolfe Benson, we have a long history of giving back to the communities we live in. This past year is no different. Some staff volunteered for a beach clean up at Stanley Park, others participated alongside a United Way volunteer event handing out groceries at FoodHub in Vancouver. We are also fortunate to have some staff volunteering at Salvation Army in December.
In continuing with RB traditions, we successfully finished our annual United Way Campaign and raised over $21,000 this year to help people in our communities. We will also make donations to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Salvation Army instead of mailing Christmas cards.
Tax season is around the corner! As we clean-up for family & friends to come into our homes, and sort through our never-ending emails, it’s also a great time to start gathering your tax materials into a folder in advance of the upcoming tax season. On this note, a reminder that CRA continues to transition to electronic mail delivery from paper delivery. We urge you to register for CRA’s my account (personal tax) or my business account (corporate tax). We would also like to remind you that CRA will never communicate directly via email. The current standard is that you will receive an email notification from the CRA that a new document related to your tax situation has been published to your account. Do not click on any links, instead log into your CRA account to access the communications.
We are looking forward to a number of new staff starting in early January. Please join us in welcoming CPA students Van Ha and rejoining us are Joel D’Souza and Katie Nguyen. We also have 5 Co-Op students joining: Tyler Hebert, Josh Sandhu, Shaan Harika, Nathan Choo and Daphne Merritt.
